Project target is the working out of solutions for structural vehicle components from ultra high-strength aluminium alloys which can provide an alternative for ultra high-strength (hot formed) boron steels. Thereby the optimisation of the process chain “from sheet to component” is in the center with the aim of a production suitable for large-scale.
Main Research Topics
To reach this target two main topics come on:
- The examination and development of new / adapted joining concepts which support the production suitable for large-scale.
- The establishment of a simulation-based process chain “from sheet to component” with the aim to improve the prediction exactness of the crash behaviour.an improved prediction exactness enables the whole exploitation of the material potential and thus enables efficient light weight solutions.
